Camping is a great way to reunite the whole family. There’s fresh air, lovely scenery, the starlit sky and depending on where you’re camping, you might get wildlife glimpses. If you’re really fortunate you might even be able to spot a meteor bolting across the sky–camping will turn out to be an unbeatable experience not just for experienced campers but also for beginners. The idea of camping may sound exciting, but you may be wondering how to tackle the boredom of your kids as there will be no reception of TV and sketchy cell phone. Here are some ideas and tricks to keep your kids occupied while camping.

1. Engage children in the camp work

Allowing children to pitch of frustration not only staves but also makes it a nice time for the family to enjoy all the activities together. Have them perform campsite tasks such as hammering stakes, stick collection, water filling, etc.

2. Nature fun

Prepare a list of a few things you can see in or around the campsite and send your children on a hunt for scavengers. Ensure you specifically state the limits your child is not allowed to wander beyond.

3. Stamp Painting

Engage the children in the art of diffusing colors. Cut various shapes from Coffee Filters, use different markers to color them, dip and extract the painted cutouts from the water quickly and stamp them on your T-shirt to make different designs. Let the T-shirt dry out under the sun.

4. Catching bugs

Help kids use a long stick, fishing line, and a hook to prepare their own fishing pole. It would involve them to catch their own meal, more than anything else. Additionally, you can also send them a bug catcher and let them have fun with little creatures around them (without hurting the bugs).

5. Exploring ponds

Hunt down a pond nearby. Take along some nets and buckets to capture some insects from the pool, or draw some water from the pond. Just watch these little floating creatures using a small microscope-it’s educational.

6. Treasure hunt

A Treasure Hunt is one of the most exciting games for kids! Download a GPS or Geocaching device and go down with your child to a real-life treasure hunt.

7. Have a water fight

Children love playing on the water. Introduce them into the water balloon game. In most cases, the balloons can be quickly filled up. Give the water bombing game a Get Set, Go, until they decide on your rules not to hit any passerby or any sensitive body part!

8. Make sandman

Ask kids to collect some sand from nearby areas and help them build a sandman. Do not succumb to building a boring old castle. Using various things around to make it look as close as possible to a true sandman.

9. Stone art

Allowing children to pick from the campsite rocks of different sizes and shapes. Then allow them to design and apply to these stones their imaginative spin. These rock fragments can be used to decorate the great outdoors decorated with splashes of color.

10. Camping Olympics

If you have lots of children in your family, set up Camping Olympics. Numerous outdoor games can be parts of your Games, such as a tug-of-war or a potato sack race The beauty of designing your own activities is that you can customize the schedule to match the campers ‘ ages and the level of competition you want (or don’t want to). Holding children involved with the classic I Spy game for a relaxing time around the campsite.  Every player gives hints about the object they choose from beyond their eyesight, saying, for example, “I spy something brown with my little eyes.” The one who guesses what it is wins.

12. Balloon pings pong

Played with basic supplies over a picnic table, the balloon ping pong is sure to be a hit. Bring extra ballons as needed to replace them.

13. Glowing ring toss

Children love glow sticks! Using a large glow stick and a few smaller bracelet sticks create a flashing ring toss game for fun at night. Want to make the game harder? Using three-wide sticks at different distances and heights and add to surround the sticks a set of point values.
